What Is Quercetin?
Quercetin is an antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine properties. This phytochemical is found in many fruits and vegetables, particularly the skins of grapes, apples, red onions, and some berries. How Does Quercetin Work?
Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant. It is also a natural anti-histamine, and anti-inflammatory. Research shows that quercetin may help to prevent some cancers as well as boost the immune system and increase mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) in muscle and brain.Research also has found that quercetin may increase aerobic endurance and VO2max in men and women.
You can get quercetin in your diet by eating foods that contain it. You can also look for quercetin supplements in the form of pills or some energy drinks at your local health food stores. However, there is no direct evidence that intentionally consuming querecetin or supplements that contain it will directly improve your health.
