From the article: What Is Tennis Elbow - Lateral Epicondylitis
Tennis Elbow or lateral epicondylitis describes pain on the outside of the elbow that often occurs in athletes who play racket sports. The pain generally occurs during or after intense use of the forearm or when tightly grasping objects with the hand. Although it is a common overuse injury in tennis players, anyone can get lateral epicondylitis.

Share Your Recovery TipsElbow pain at night - tennis or golfers?
- I had terrible elbow pain after adding pull-ups to my exercise routine. I didn't know if it was tennis or golfers elbow, all I knew is that pain was becoming increasingly uncomfortable when waking up. It also started disrupting my sleep so I finally saw an Orthopedic Doc and PT to learn it was Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer) not Lateral (Tennis). I posted comments on the Golfers Elbow page. See a doctor to get a true diagnosis, but if you have elbow pain at night this may offers some ideas to alleviate it. http://sportsmedicine.about.com/u/ua/sharetipsandadvice/Coping-With-Golfers-Elbow-Medial-Epicondylitis.htm
