A stress fracture may occur when muscles can no longer absorb the stress and shock of repeated impact and transfer that stress to the nearby bone, which results in a small crack or fracture in the bone. Stress fractures may be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are often vague and slow to appear. If you've had a stress fracture, tell us about it. How did it occur, when was it diagnosed and how did you cope?
