What injury did you sustain?
Ankle twist, the front muscle (and not the side ligaments) are hurt as i feel the pain only when i stretch the foot straight.
How did it happen?
This isn't my first injury on this foot and certain not the first because of soccer. I twisted my right ankle awkwardly while moving with the ball, i felt asif the studs were remaining grounded and so tries to drag my feet along the ball(which i avoid usually)and in the process, twisted it, i felt i heard a crunching sound, but was able to run a few minutes later, but later that day, i felt pain while moving the ankle and it was swollen up. it was sad coz i had just returned to full fitness after a two month rehab following a similar twist to both my legs, first left then right.
i don't play too much fancy football like ronaldo, but love to emulate iniesta, don't know if that's too taxing on my ankles.
Tips and Tricks
- well i practice everyday for an hour (with crepe bandage on) in the morning, thats 7 to 8 am and then my daily activity includes very less walking, definitely no running, i do a lot of biking, and drive carefully not to put unwanted stress on my foot. i have milk products and lots of bananas, i love bananas. thats about my rehab programme.
What was your recovery like?
it was good. Slowly, you could feel your feet regaining the lost touch and the required strength. It was important not to go in for unnecessary challenges when practicing in the morning.
How has your soccer game changed since the injury?
i used to be very tricky, not that they were very effective against my opponents, i tried to go alone and would loose possesion. Now, i like being the provider, with the odd long range efforts or tap ins and occasional headers. I try to be safe in tackling and present a firm, strong & standing foot.
