Background and Accomplishments:
Soccer player Abby Wambach will be heading to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. The 28-year-old from upstate New York led the U.S. team to a golf medal in the 2004 Olympic Games. She remains the teams dominant scorer.
Personal:
Though physically imposing, Wambach is a self-described goofball who grew up as the youngest of seven children. She is actively involved with Right to Play and has traveled to Rwanda and Uganda with that organization.

Wambach enjoys outdoor activities, like mountain biking and camping, and says that if she weren't a soccer player, she would be a professional mountain biker. She'd also like to hike the Appalachian Trail. Wambach is an enthusiastic video game player who owns multiple gaming systems.
