Torn ACL, torn MCL, torn medial and lateral meniscusWhat Happened:
I was moving towards the basket to shoot and some opposing player ran into me from the outside of my right knee. My knee popped and buckled on me.Current Prognosis:
I had surgery on August 12th of 99, and right now I am at about 5 months or so. I am practicing basketball again, but can not completely play again yet. I still have some atrophy in my quads, but I should be back to full competetive sports in about a month or so.What Was Learned:
I learned that even the strongest athlete can get hurt. I've also learned that rehabbing is the hardest part of anything. There were times when I felt like I had nothing going for me, but in truth, this has made me stronger mentally. And in rehab, it's all about the attitude. If you don't have the positive attitude, it will take longer to get better. This injury has also opened my eyes to see that I have soooo many people around me that are willing to help me get better. All of my teammates cheered me on when I went to my first practice. They also all stopped by after my injury and went with me to the hospital. If it weren't for all of the support that I received from them, I don't know how far along I would be today.Email (Optional):
