Knee Surgery Overview

An ACL reconstruction is a surgical procedure used to repair a damaged anterior cruciate ligament of the knee. This surgical procedure, typically performed by arthroscopic surgery, removes the damaged ACL and replaces it with a graft. ACL reconstruction is often an out-patient procedure and many patients go home the same day.

New Debate About Disposing Expired Medicine

It used to be recommended that leftover and expired medicines should be flushed down the toilet, but according to a recent news report scientists are now debating that method. The EPA says flushing is no longer a good idea, as many pharmaceuticals remain unchanged after wastewater treatment, and could harm fish and encourage development of drug-resistant germs. Officials say better choices are finishing all of a medicine so there aren’t leftovers, putting the drugs in the trash, or seeing if your local hazardous waste program will accept expired medicines.
