Study Fails to Show Massage Speeds Recovery
Many believe that massage can improve recovery in athletes following high intensity exercise. However, there is little research to support this theory. A study published in the April issue of the British Journal of Sports Medicine attempted to answer this question.
The conclusion:
"No measurable physiological effects of leg massage compared with passive recovery were observed on recovery from high intensity exercise, but the subsequent effect on fatigue index warrants further investigation." Read the full abstract and article online.
