Yao Ming Foot Fracture

Tuesday June 30, 2009
Houston Rockets center, Yao Ming, suffered a hairline fracture of the navicular bone of his left foot during a playoff game with the Lakers on May 8. This injury has the potential to keep him off the court for next season and possibly end his basketball career.

Team physician Tom Clanton told the Houston Chronicle that the fracture, "has the potential for him missing this next season and could be career threatening." Initially it was thought that Yao would only miss eight to 12 weeks, but a bone scan last week showed that the fracture is not healing properly.
