Arthroscopic Surgery for Meniscus Repair

Monday November 5, 2007
Arthroscopic surgery is the standard outpatient treatment to repair a torn meniscus. Meniscus tears typically occur in sports that require fast starts, stops, cuts and pivots. The medial meniscus (near the inside of the knee) is most commonly torn.

After such a repair you may want to know when you can return to your regular sport or activity. Returning too soon can increase your risk of re-injury or developing a chronic problem that will lead to a longer recovery. There are, however, some general return to sports guidelines that you and your physician can discuss.
