Dealing with Hamstring Pain and Injury

The hamstring muscle group is made up of three muscles:

  • biceps femoris
  • semimembranosus
  • semitendinosus
These muscles are vulnerable to hamstring pulls, strains and tears during sports that require quick acceleration. One simple exercise can help reduce the risk of a hamstring injury.

"Retro Running," or backward running has been show to reduce the risk of hamstring injuries and aching knees when added to a training program. This simple strategy works the hamstrings in a safe and efficient way.
